“Give me some……” cue in music

I tried to be trendy by taking part in the drop-down challenge last month, and I realized two things; my knees are not as strong as they used to be and I have officially gotten to the age where I need to start taking supplements.

I have noticed that most 30+ people usually do not know the right health decisions to take so I’m going to share a few tips that can guide you on this 30+ journey

  • Healthy weight

Let’s be honest, we all wish to go to the gym and exercise more, but the reality is that it's hard to be consistent. Here’s the deal; every time you stand or walk, your weight puts a strain on your knees, so for every extra 10 pounds you carry, you are putting 40 pounds extra on your knees. In addition, moderate exercises are an excellent way to help protect your knee joints because building up the muscles around your knees helps reduce the stress on your joints.

  • Wear proper shoes

Not every time high heels, sometimes put on flats. After years of wearing high heels, you may begin to experience knee pain because your quadriceps muscles strain to keep your knees in line. If you wear flat shoes, your knees will thank you.

  • Anti-inflammatory diet

It’s pretty cool to know that lots of foods have anti-inflammatory properties so you have no excuse! I recommend a plant-based diet that features lots of fruits and veggies, beans, whole grains, and fish. Don't forget to drink the standard eight glasses of water daily.

  • Supplements

If you are too busy to eat right, you can ensure you get the right nutrients through supplements. Cod Liver Oil is great for this, Turmeric, Calcium, and Vitamin D as well. There are also supplements focused on strengthening your joints which have chondroitin and glucosamine. You should speak to your doctor about this.
